Looseleaf’s primary design focus is giving readers a delightful experience while they’re immersed in your book … but first you have to get them reading! We provide graphic design for covers and for print- and web-based branding and promotion so you can charm the right readers into trying your book.
Design Processes
Book Cover Design
Book covers should attract the right readers to the right books and should work well at full size and as thumbnails. Looseleaf’s graphic design for covers includes excellent and effective typography, light photomanipulation, finding stock imagery and other elements, and more. (It does not include illustration.)
—Dan Wells, NYT bestselling author
We’re a good fit for you if you already have imagery (from an illustrator, photographer, or stock website) or if you already know a bit about the art direction for your cover. To make your cover, we’ll get you an intake form where you can tell us all about your book, its comp titles, its intended audience, and other aspects.
Then we’ll create one or two concepts (basic ideas) for you to look at, request changes to, and/or approve. After you approve the direction for the cover, we’ll fine-tune it and get it ready for publication.
Looseleaf can create front covers only (perfect for ebook-only publications), full wraparounds with the spine and back cover (for paperbacks or hardcovers), or the spine and back cover if you already have the front cover from another designer.
Promotional Material Designs
Our “promotional materials” category covers everything from bookmarks and postcard mailers to social media graphics and logo branding. The process for promo materials is similar to book covers but is usually less involved—the intake process is usually less intensive and there is usually only one concept.
Pricing
- $70/hour + the cost of stock materials (you approve all stock purchases before we pull the trigger).
